Rowing Set for Upcoming BIG EAST Championship

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville rowing team will travel to West Windsor, N.J., for the 2012 BIG EAST Championship on Mercer Lake on Sunday.
Overall, Louisville will be among eight BIG EAST schools competing at this year's championship. Preliminary races will begin at 8 a.m., ET, with the first final to start at 11 a.m. This year marks the eighth annual BIG EAST Rowing Championship but will be the 12th time the BIG EAST will crown a conference champion. The championship was formerly referred to as a "challenge" from 2001-2004.
The Cardinals enter the weekend as the No. 3 seed in the varsity eight event, while Notre Dame, which has claimed eight straight league titles, is the No. 1 seed. Syracuse will be the No. 2 seed, while Georgetown is seeded fourth. The remaining varsity eight seeds include No. 5 West Virginia, No. 6 Rutgers, No. 7 Connecticut and No. 8 Villanova.
