Women's Lacrosse Welcomes No. 13 Georgetown on Saturday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's lacrosse team welcomes 13th-ranked Georgetown to the U of L Lacrosse Stadium on Saturday, April 7. First draw is set for noon.
The first 250 fans through the gate will receive an exclusive Louisville Cardinals water bottle, and the women's lacrosse team will host a clinic for kids of all ages following the game. Clinic participants will receive an adidas Louisville Lacrosse T-shirt.
The game is part of the '2012 Friends of Jaclyn Week,' helping to raise awareness about pediatric brain tumors, supporting the growth of FOJ and ultimately improving the quality of life of children with pediatric brain tumors. A donations box will be set up at the entrance gate for fans wishing to help.
Louisville (3-7, 1-2 BIG EAST) is coming off a 17-8 loss to No. 15-ranked Loyola (Md.) at home on Friday. Nikki Boltja, Hillary Bushway and Eleni Kozas each scored two goals in the loss, and Bushway was credited with an assist as well. Janaye Dzikewich led the defense with a game-high five ground balls, tying a career best, and a team-best three caused turnovers. Monica Negron, who had a goal and three ground balls, was one of four Cardinals with two caused turnovers. Danielle Pawliw and Ashley Herbst split time in goal, and Pawliw, who made four saves, was credited with the loss.
Boltja currently ranks first on the team in goals (38) and points (39). Heading into Friday's game, she was No. 1 nationally in goals per game (4.0). Jamie Redding, who is second on the team with 16 goals, has the most assists in the group with 10. Cat Gordon, meanwhile, is the lone freshman with double-digit goals (10) and is tops on the team with 45 draw controls. Defensively, Negron has collected the most ground balls (26) and has a team-best 19 caused turnovers.
Georgetown (7-4, 3-1) is riding a three-match winning streak, its longest of the season, after dominating Cincinnati for a 22-4 victory on Friday. The Hoyas outscored the Bearcats, 13-2, in the opening period and then closed the game with a 9-2 scoring advantage. Thirteen players scored in the win, with Caroline Tarzian and Dina Jackson each recording a hat trick. Megan Marinelli had a game-high six ground balls, and Kelly Barnes collected five. Collectively, Georgetown outshot Cincinnati, 32-9, and held the advantage over the Bearcats in ground balls (20-14) and draw controls (17-11).
For the season, Sophia Thomas leads the team in goals (25) and points (31) and trails Barnes (17) for the most caused turnovers, with 16. Barnes' caused turnovers per game mark ranked 21st nationally as of April 1. Kelsi Bozel ranks first on the squad in draw controls with 31. Collectively, the Hoyas opened the week as the top-ranked team in caused turnovers per game (11.7), 16th in ground balls per game (17.4), 19th in scoring offense (13.4 goals per game), 23rd in scoring margin (+2.5) and 25th in draw controls per game (13.6).
The Hoyas are under the direction of eighth-year head coach Ricky Fried, who's led the program to a 91-51 overall mark. Under his watch, Georgetown posted a 7-1 conference mark last year, capturing the 2011 BIG EAST regular-season title.
