
Men's Golf and Malec Win Tournament

MUNCIE, Ind. - - The University of Louisville men's golf team won its first tournament since the 2008 season by capturing the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational at Delaware Country Club in Muncie, Ind.
Louisville won the event with a 362-355-373=1,090 in the play six, count five tournament. The Cardinals won by 10 strokes over Austin Peay, who were second with a 1,100, while Ball State managed a 374-364-375=1,113. It was the Cardinals first tournament win since capturing the Cardinal Intercollegiate in 2008.
Chris Malec won his first-ever tournament by carding 70-68-72=210 to pace the Cardinals. Justin Dorward posted a second-place day with 69-71-72=212 to give the Cardinals the top two sports in the two-day event.
Chris Biuso was 11th overall after shooting 75-72-74=221, while Max Walz was tied for 22nd overall after his 76-73-76=225 performance. Henry Tomlinson was tied for 28th with his scores of 76-71-79=226 and Daniel Iceman was tied for 43rd overall after shooting 72-79-80=231.
The Cardinals will compete at the BIG EAST Championships on Apr. 29-May 1 in Tampa, Fla.
