
Men's Golf Opens Spring with Fourth-Place Finish

Hilton Head Island, S.C. - - The Louisville men's golf team finished its first event of the spring with a fourth-place finish in the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate at the par-72 Wexford Plantation Course on Tuesday morning.
The Cardinals (+40) finished 12 strokes behind Georgia State (+28), which captured the team title, while Furman (+34), Davidson (+39) and Presbyterian (+45) rounded out the top five in the 17-team field.
Junior Kyle Blackston paced the way for the Cardinals, tying for third place overall by carding 75-75-71=221. Blackston, who played in three previous events, posted the best finish of his career.
Junior Chris Malec tied for 23rd place with his 74-75-79=228 and Max Walz tied for 28th by carding 83-74-73=230.
Senior Justin Dorward ended the tournament tied for 35th overall after shooting 78- 73-80=231, while freshman Henry Tomlinson rounded out the top five for Louisville by tying for 38th at 79-75-78=232.
The Cardinals return to action on March 4-6 at the USF Invitational in Tampa, Fla.
