
Field Hockey Set for Missouri State and Appalachian State

Turner on being named BIG EAST Player of the Week
The University of Louisville field hockey team will return to action this weekend when it plays host to Missouri State on Sept. 9 at 3 p.m. and Appalachian State on Sept. 11 at 2 p.m.
Louisville brings a 2-2 record into the weekend after defeating Davidson 5-3 Saturday and falling to No. 11 Wake Forest 3-2 in overtime Sunday. The Cards are led by reigning BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week Hayley Turner. The midfielder leads the team with four goals and nine points on the season.
Following this weekend, the Cards will go back on the road for their BIG EAST Conference opener at Georgetown Saturday, Sept. 17 and will travel to No. 8 American University on Sunday, Sept. 18.

Scouting the Bears: Missouri State (1-2) Losing to Indiana University 4-1 and Saint Louis University 3-2. The Bears will be returning 16 letterwinners.

Last time Out
The Cardinals embarked on their first road trip of the season to the state of North Carolina. They opened the weekend with a 5-3 win over Davidson College, bringing a two-game winning streak into Sunday's game against No. 11 Wake Forest. Lousville took an early lead, but Wake responded with two goals in the second half to pull ahead 2-1. Hayley Turner tied the game with just under a minute remaining to send the contest into overtime. The Demon Deacons secured the win less than four minutes into the extra period.
Up Next
Following this weekend, the Cardinals will go back on the road when they open BIG EAST play at Georgetown on Saturday. They will close the weekend at No. 8 American.
Turner Named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Senior Hayley Turner was named BIG EAST Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 5.
Turner, a midfielder from Sydney, Australia, scored twice in each of Louisville's games for a total of four goals and eight points. In the 5-3 win over Davidson on Sept. 3, she registered the game-tying and insurance goals. Turner accounted for both of Louisville's goals against No. 11 Wake Forest on Sept. 4, including the game-tying goal she scored at the 69:08 mark to send the game to overtime.
Turner Movin' on up
Senior Hayley Turner is currently tied for fifth place on the school's list for career goals (38) and takes over fifth place in career points (89).
Fountain of Youth
Louisville features a young lineup with five freshmen and one sophomore among its starters. Senior Hayley Turner (4)and junior Haley Jurich (2) have accounted for six of Louisville's 10 goals.
