
Field Hockey Goes on the Road

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The No. 16 University of Louisville field hockey team will embark on its first road trip of the season this weekend when the Cards travel to the state of North Carolina to Davidson College Saturday and No. 11 Wake Forest Sunday.
Louisville enters the weekend with a 1-1 record after opening the season with a 3-1 loss to California and rebounding with a 2-1 win over No. 13 Michigan State. Senior Caitlin Collins, junior Haley Jurich and freshman Dominique Pasqualichio account for the Cards' account for each of the goals while sophomore Elizabeth Vance has two assists.
Wake Forest University is coming off two losses, falling to Iowa University 3-2 and Michigan State 2-1. They will play Syracuse before coming to face the Cardinals on Friday September 4, 2011. According to the NFHCA preseason poll, Wake Forest is ranked No. 11.

Scouting the Wildcats: The defending NorPac champion enters the weekend with a 1-0 overall record after defeating Georgetown 2-0 in its season opener. Junior goalkeeper Sarah Fisher was named the NorPac East Defensive Player of the Week. Series Record: Davidson leads 7-0-1

Scouting the Demon Deacons: Wake Forest enters the weekend with an 0-2 record, coming off of losses to Iowa (3-2) and No. 9 Michigan (2-1). They will play No. 5 Syracuse prior to Sunday's game against the Cards. Series Record: Wake Forest own the series record 8-1 with the Cardinals. Last Meeting: Oct. 19, 2009 - Wake won 2-1 at Trager Stadium
Cardinal Quick Hits:
- Junior Haley Jurich and senior Caitlin Collins were named to the first BIG EAST honor roll of the 2011 season. Jurich's first goal of the season proved to be the game-winner against No. 13 Michigan State. The victory was the Cards' second against the Spartans in the nine game series and the first since 2006. Caitlin Collins tallied her first career goal to even the score in Louisville's season-opening 3-1 loss to California.
- Senior Hayley Turner is on pace to move up in the career goals, assists and points lists. Her 81 career points place her fifth on the school's all-time list and she needs 10 more to tie Olivia Netzler's fourth place mark of 91. She is currently sixth in career goals with 28 and needs four more to tie Netzler for fifth place(32). Finally, Turner is sixth in career assists with 25 and needs three more to tie Lisa Wasser for fifth.
- The Cards entered the 2011 season at No. 16 in the NFHCA preseason coaches' poll. This marks the ninth straight year Louisville has been in the top 20.
