
Field Hockey Set for Preseason Competition

The University of Louisville field hockey team will open preseason competition this weekend with an exhibition game at Iowa Friday and the annual Alumnae Game Sunday at Trager Stadium.
In her first season as the Cards' head coach, Justine Sowry is set to guide the team which returns six starters and 14 letterwinners from last year's team which posted a 13-7 record and finished with a 5-1 mark in BIG EAST Conference play.
Louisville will look to All-BIG EAST Preseason selections seniors Hayley Turner and Caitlin Collins and junior Erin Conrad to help lead the team in a challenging schedule. Turner recorded eight goals and eight assists for 24 points in 2010 while Collins and Conrad led the Cardinal defense which registered five shutouts and a 1.76 goals against average a season ago.
Additionally, the Cards welcome eight talented newcomers, including redshirt freshman defender Dominique Pasqualichio who was recently named the to USA Under 21 team.
