The University of Louisville will travel to Duke to face Washington in the fourth annual Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division I Kick-Off Weekend Jan. 27-30.
The ITA Kick-Off Weekend features 15 host sites with four teams at each site vying to advance to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. The 15 schools that win both of their matches at these events will be invited to play in the ITA National Men's Team Indoor Championship, hosted by the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA, February 10-13.
The Cardinals will play Washington in the first round while the top-seeded host Blue Devils will meet VCU in the other first round match. The winners and losers will face each other the following day.
"We are excited to be playing in the ITA Indoor Regional for the fourth straight year," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "We will be playing a very talented Pac-10 team in Washington which finished ranked ahead of us this season. Coach Matt Anger always fields consistently good teams and next season will be no different. Duke is the No. 1 seed and host, which will make this regional even tougher. We are familiar with VCU and know that our matches are always competitive when we play them. We have never played at Duke before and this draw will make the 2011-12 schedule that much more challenging. This will be the first regional without the `Fabulous Four' so I am hoping ambition will overcome our lack of experience."
