LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Four University of Louisville women's lacrosse players earned BIG EAST postseason honors as selected by the coaches, the conference office announced late Wednesday night.
Leading the way on the all-BIG EAST first team were seniors Bergan Foley, who earns the honor for the second-straight season, and Emily Dashiell, who was a unanimous selection to the squad and was a second-team honoree twice previously. Junior Katie Oliverio and senior Liz Lovejoy earned second team all-league honors. It is the first time in Oliverio's and Lovejoy's careers that the duo earned league accolades.
Foley finished her Cardinal career as the program's career record holder in seven offensive categories. Most notably, the Huntingdon Valley, Pa., native registered 265 goals over her four-year career, which, according to the NCAA, is the fourth-most all-time. Along with her 65 goals this year, Foley also registered 71 points in 17 games, an average of 4.18 points per game. Nationally, Foley ranks third in goals and goals per game (3.82), 10th in points and 16th in points per game. In the BIG EAST, she ranked first in goals per game and free-position goals (16).
Dashiell, a Salisbury, Md., native, became known for being a force in the circle, as she won 79 draw controls, an average of 4.65 per game. The mark is good enough for fourth nationally. She also ranked among the nation's elite in ground balls (18th, 2.82 per game). She led the conference in draw controls and was second in ground balls. She ranks first in program history in ground balls (174), draw controls (247) and caused turnovers (107). She ranks eighth all-time in the NCAA in draw controls. Also, by scoring a goal against Notre Dame, she extended her goal-scoring (34-straight) and point-scoring (43-straight) streaks.
A Silver Spring, Md., native, Oliverio ranks first nationally in assists (43), second in assists per game (2.53) and 25th in points (64). Through her sophomore and junior campaigns, she has totaled 89 assists. She scored 21 goals this season in addition to collecting 26 ground balls. Among players in the BIG EAST, she ranked first in assists per game and fifth in points per game (3.76).
Lovejoy, a Greenwich, Conn., native, finished her season with a career-best 57 goals to go along with 11 assists for 68 points. She also had four game-winning goals, the most on the team, 21 draw controls and 21 ground balls. Nationally, Lovejoy ranked seventh in goals, 10th in goals per game (3.35), 15th in points and 20th in points per game (4.0).
