LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's lacrosse team closes its regular-season schedule with a contest against Notre Dame on Friday, April 29 - `Senior Day' - at the U of L Lacrosse Stadium. Senior introductions begin at 4:40 p.m., and first draw is scheduled for 5 p.m.
"We are honoring a tremendous group of young women who, four years ago, took a leap of faith to make history at the University of Louisville," coach Kellie Young says. "Now, as their senior year nears a closing, I look back and couldn't be more proud of all that they've accomplished and and established for the future of our program. They are leaving a legacy of success, a legacy of giving back and a legacy of maturity."
The 12 seniors that the Cardinals will honor prior to the game comprise the first complete senior class in program history. Ten of the student-athletes were members of Louisville's inaugural team in 2008. In addition to the 4:40 p.m. introductions, the seniors will be recognized following the conclusion of the game on the field, and fans are encouraged to remain in the stands and watch the ceremony.
Louisville enters Friday's match with a 10-6 overall record, holding a 3-4 mark in the BIG EAST. Despite dropping their last two games, falling on the road to 19th-ranked Syracuse and Connecticut, the Cardinals currently are tied for fifth in the BIG EAST standings.
Against Syracuse, Louisville held a three-goal advantage late into the second period, but fell victim to four-straight goals by the Orange to lose, 11-10.
