LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - Junior Tori Collins posted her second consecutive shutout University of Louisville softball team defeated Wright State 8-0 in five innings Saturday in the Red & Black Tournament. The Cardinals (8-5) will wrap up the tournament Sunday when they face Miami (Ohio) at 2 p.m. and Wright State at 4 p.m. at Ulmer Stadium.
The Cards struck early with three runs in the bottom of the first. Jordan Trimble reached on a fielder's choice, Chelsea Bemis followed with a single, and Alicja Wolny's base hit scored Trimble to put the Cards on the board. Maggie Ruckenbrod's two-run single plated Bemis and Wolny.
U of L added another run in the second when Chelsea Jordan drew a leadoff walk, stole second and scored when Katie Keller reached on an error to make it a 4-0 game.
Louisville took advantage of three hits and an error to put up a three-spot in the fourth. Katie Keller walked and Jennifer Esteban and Trimble followed with back-to-back singles.
