
Olmsted to Coach at Pan Am Games

University of Louisville assistant swim coach Karin Olmsted has been named Team Manager for the US Open Water Pan American Games, USA Swimming has announced. This is Olmsted's first opportunity to represent her country in an international setting.
"Any time you get to wear your country's flag it is a great honor," Olmsted said. "USA Swimming has a lot of great people in its organization, and I am grateful to have the opportunity to represent them. This type of team represents the level of swimmer that we expect to have on our team at UofL, and it will be a blast to help them swim fast."
Olmsted is heading into her ninth year with the Cardinals. In her first eight years in the Ville, Olmsted has helped lead swimmers to All-American status and helped the team win three conference championships. Prior to hes time in Louisville, she was an assistant coach for Kenyon College, from 2001-2003.
The Pan American Open Water Games pits the top two US against the top swimmers from the other Pan American Countriesl. The open water events will happen at the API Maritime Terminal in Puerto Vallarta.[1] During the competition, the participation of 36 swimmers (18 men and 18 women) is expected. The course of the competition, in both genders, is 10K.
