
Women's Lacrosse Announces 2012 Recruiting Class

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville women's lacrosse head coach Kellie Young has announced the addition of eight student-athletes for the 2012 season.
"This is another class packed full of talent," Young says. "This class will be coming to The `Ville to continue building a tradition of success."
The Cardinals' 2012 class is comprised of Faye Brust (Bel Air, Md.), Carissa Corbett (Wilmington, N.C.), Cat Gordon (Glen Arm, Md.), Kendall Gordon (Worthington, Ohio), Taylor Hagin (Cumming, Ga.), Emily Kolsevich (Pottstown, Pa.), Danielle Lazo (Stevensville, Md.) and Casey Pepperman (Baltimore, Md.).

| Faye Brust Position: Midfield/Attack Hometown: Bel Air, Md. Club Team: NEMS Brust comes to Louisville from Bel Air, Md., where she was a three-sport athlete at John Carroll High. A teammate of future Cardinal Cat Gordon, the duo helped lead their varsity lacrosse squad to back-to-back semifinals in 2009-10. Additionally, Brust played soccer and ran varsity track. She was the captain of her junior varsity soccer squad and later guided the varsity team to capture the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland (IAAM) indoor soccer title. | Carissa Corbett Position: Midfield Hometown: Wilmington, N.C. Club Team: Carolina Fever Corbett, a decorated athlete from Wilmington, N.C., played varsity lacrosse all four years under coach Erin Redmond at John T. Hoggard High. Along with being named team MVP and earning most improved player honors, she was tabbed as captain and named to the all-conference team for three years. This past year, she guided her team to a runner-up finish at the 2010 North Carolina state championship. Corbett also was a four-year varsity basketball letterwinner and served as co-captain for a year. Outside of high school competition, Corbett played for the Carolina All-Stars (AAU basketball) for three years, the North Carolina National Lacrosse Team, Carolina Fever (club lacrosse team) and a club volleyball travel team, where she was a two-year captain. | Cat Gordon Position: Midfield/Attack Hometown: Glen Arm, Md. Club Team: TLC 2011 A Glen Arm, Md., resident, Cat Gordon will join the Cardinals after a successful prep career. She played her first three seasons at Roland Park Country School and will finish her career at John Carroll High under coach Krysten Porcella. A varsity lacrosse letterwinner, she also earned letters in tennis, indoor track and basketball. A two-time Maryland Lacrosse Association All-Star, she played club lacrosse for TLC 2011, where she led the team in draw controls and ranked among the top five in scoring from her freshman to her junior seasons. She excelled in tennis, winning the No. 1 singles tennis IAAM title in 2010 and being selected as the team MVP. | Kendall Gordon Position: Defense Hometown: Worthington, Ohio Club Team: Midwestern Force Kendall Gordon hails from Worthington, Ohio, where she attended Thomas Worthington High. A four-year letterwinner in lacrosse, she collected all-league and all-district honors and was named to the Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Midwest Girls' All-Star Team. | Taylor Hagin Position: Attack/Midfield Hometown: Cumming, Ga. Club Team: Hotlanta Hagin, a highly touted offensive threat, played lacrosse at West Forsyth High under coach Dan Kaplan in Cumming, Ga. She earned numerous accolades throughout her career, being selected as the team's offensive MVP three times (2008-10), earned all-county honors three times (2008-10) and was tabbed an all-state selection in 2009 and 2010. Hagin, a four-year letterwinner, led the state in assists in 2009 and 2010 and tallied 146 points this past year. On the club level, she competed for the Georgia National Tournament Team One in 2009 and 2010 and played for Hotlanta Club for four years. | Emily Kolsevich Position: Attack Hometown: Pottstown, Pa. Club Team: PA Express A Pottstown, Pa., native, Kolsevich earned all-PAC-10 first- and second-team honors in lacrosse at Owen J. Roberts High under coach Lucinda Boalton. Additionally, she earned Pottstown second team all-area honors. Outside of high school competition, she played for PA Express, while also competing at the national tournament with Philly Team 3 (2009) and Philly Team (2010). Along with being a three-year lacrosse letterwinner, she earned a varsity letter in tennis. Kolsevich also succeeded in the classroom, as she was chosen to receive the PASLA Student-Athlete award, landed a spot on the 2010 United Sports Underclass Honor Roll and earned the Jim Gerlach Congressional Award. | Danielle Lazo Position: Midfield Hometown: Stevensville, Md. Club Team: Maryland United 2011 East Lazo, who has played for the U.S. Lacrosse Women's U-19 National Team since 2010, is competing at St. Mary's High under coach Megan Lewis in Stevensville, Md. She also gained extensive experience, playing in the U.S. Women's Division National Tournament with D.C. Metro and competing for Maryland United Lacrosse Club 2011 East as a player and a coach. This past year, she was tabbed a 2010 Under Armour All-America Washington, D.C. Girls' All-Star. Additionally, Lazo was a field hockey and basketball varsity letterwinner (named captain in all three sports). A member of the National Honor Society and the National Latin Honor Society, she received the Iron Saint Award (played three sports all four years) and was tabbed a Parvis Scholar, which recognizes students who have maintained a 4.0 grade-point average. | Casey Pepperman Position: Midfield Hometown: Baltimore, Md. Club Team: M&D Black Rounding out the class is Pepperman, who played lacrosse at McDonogh School in Owings Mills, Md., under coach Chris Robinson. Pepperman, an honor roll student, also excelled on the track, as she has two top-20 all-time marks in the 300m, plus one in the 55m hurdles and the long jump.
