
Lacrosse's Allen, Zoeller Honored for Academics

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Two University of Louisville women's lacrosse student-athletes, Sammy Allen and Katie Zoeller, were named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association's Academic Honor Roll, the Colorado-based organization announced Monday.
To be eligible for recognition, student-athletes must have a grade-point average of 3.2 or better and have achieved at least junior status academically.
Zoeller, a rising senior, is majoring in health and human performance, with a focus in exercise science and nursing. The Louisville, Ky., native saw action in eight matches in 2010. Allen, who is majoring in biology, is also a rising senior. The Silver Spring, Md., native saw action in all 17 matches, starting 16 of them, and recorded 14 goals.
Recently, the women's lacrosse squad was honored as an IWLCA Academic Squad for collectively achieving a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
Louisville completed the 2010 campaign with an 11-6 overall mark, finishing the year ranked in the Top 10 nationally in four different categories: draw controls (No. 2 with 15.41/game), scoring offense (No. 3 with 14.71 goals/game), ground balls per game (No. 7 with 21.24/game) and caused turnovers (No. 8 at 10.94/game).
