Bergan Foley and Emily Dashiell were named to the All-West Region Second team by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association. The(IWLCA) has honored 128 student-athletes in Division I with a selection on one of the All-Region teams for 2010. These athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-American teams, which will be announced on Monday, May 31. The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American banquet on June 12, 2010 at the Crowne Plaza Valley Forge in King of Prussia, Pa.
Foley, a native of Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania, has led the nation in goals for the past six weeks and goals per game for the past 10 weeks. This season, Foley set a career-high with 78 goals after scoring 61 in each of the past two seasons. She tallied seven goals against Sacred Heart on February 19th, Vanderbilt on March 17th, Jacksonville on April 17th and Villanova on May 2nd. She tallied at least four goals in 11 games this season. This season, Foley doubled her career ground ball totals after recording 26 this season. She had recorded 11 during the 2008 campaign and 15 during the 2009 season.
Dashiell, a native of Salisbury, Md., picked up her second straight All-BIG EAST Second Team honors. She has recorded 63 draw controls on the season with 25 of those coming in BIG EAST Conference games. Dashiell also finished the season second on the team with 44 ground balls to go along with a team-leading 28 caused turnovers. She caused a team-high 16 caused turnovers in BIG EAST games to go along with 21 ground balls, which was good for second on the team in conference games. Her 25 conference draw controls were tied for second in the conference during league play, one behind the conference leader, while her caused turnovers ranked her fourth in the BIG EAST during the conference season.
