LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Fans are invited to join the University of Louisville men's tennis team in the Multi-purpose room of the YUM! Center Tuesday, May 4 at 5 p.m. to view the 2010 NCAA Men's Tennis selection show which will air on ESPN News.
"The NCAA Tournament Selection Show is always one of the most exciting moments of any collegiate year," said 2010 BIG EAST Coach of the Year, Rex Ecarma. "To see if we are chosen to host the first two rounds due to our top 16 ranking is a little nerve-wracking but also to see who we play in the first round and the other teams in our bracket is fun. This is a fun time of year in which the players are out of school momentarily and we can concentrate on our sport."
The 15th ranked Cardinals earned their seventh NCAA appearance by winning the 2010 BIG EAST championship, defeating Notre Dame 4-0 in finals on April 25. At 22-5, the Cardinals have tied a program high for wins and enter the NCAA post season on an eight match winning streak. Additionally, U of L the reached program's highest ranking (No. 10) twice this year and have spent entire season ranked in top 20.
Louisville is led by junior Austen Childs, the 2010 BIG EAST Player of the Year. Childs, who also earned the honor in 2009, is currently No. 19 in the ITA Singles rankings and has posted a 26-10 overall record while going 20-4 as Louisville's No. 1 player. Fellow juniors Simon Childs and Alejandro Calligari combine to lead U of L in doubles as the No. 26 ranked duo in the nation. Calligari and Simon Childs have tallied an 11-3 mark at No. 1 doubles.
