ATHENS, Ga. - - The 26th ranked doubles team of Simon Childs and Alejandro Calligari fell to UCLA's Amit Inbar and Nick Meister 6-4, 6-2 in the first round of the NCAA Doubles Championship Thursday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga.
"UCLA was too efficient today against Simon and Alejandro," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "We got off to a slow start and they never gave us a chance to get back. But in retrospect, I put them together late in the year and they qualified for the NCAA Championships. Teams have been using results from mid-September to earn the ran
king to be here and Simon and Alejandro have only been playing since March. They probably had the smallest window of opportunity of any team in the NCAA field. Their potential for next season is unlimited."
Simon Childs and Calligari finish the season with an 11-4 record.
