
Louisville Lacrosse Travels to Villanova on Sunday

The University of Louisville lacrosse team remains on the road when they travel to Villanova on Sunday, May 2nd for a 12:30 p.m. contest.
Louisville and Villanova have met twice before, with the Cardinals taking both decisions, including a 15-7 decision at Villanova in 2008. Last season, the Cardinals dominated for a 20-6 decision at the University of Louisville Lacrosse Stadium on March 6, 2009. Lianne Bobal led U of L with six goals while Bergan Foley and Liz Lovejoy each scored four goals. Emily Dashiell, Sammy Allen, Kayleigh Hynes, Ruby Devine and Lyndsay Ward also scored for U of L, while Tara Restly dished out four assists. Jen Heup added nine saves against the Wildcats. U of L scored early and often taking a 12-3 lead into halftime and never looked back, outscoring Villanova 8-3 in the second half.
Louisville (10-6, 3-4) defeated No. 19 Rutgers on Friday in Piscataway, N.J., eliminating the Scarlet Knights from possible contention in the upcoming BIG EAST Tournament. Katie Oliverio led the Cardinals with four goals to go along with three assists. Oliverio entered the weekend ranked third nationally in both assists and assists per game. Liz Lovejoy sparked the Cardinals in the second half, needing just over four minutes of game time in the second half to accomplish the feat. Lovejoy hit back-to-back goals in the game just seven seconds apart. Foley added three goals while being face-guarded the entire time. Meghan Ryan and Abigail Wah each finished the game with four caused turnovers.
Villanova (8-7, 1-6) won their first league game of the season on Friday evening at Villanova Stadium. Senior Erica Rybinski tied the game with eight seconds left in regulation and junior Amy Jackson tallied the only goal of overtime to lead Villanova to a pulsating 16-15 triumph over Cincinnati. Rybinski led the Wildcats with a goal and four assists while Rachel Lasad and Jackson were credited with three goals apiece. Laura Simanski paced the Bearcats with seven goals.
