The University of Louisville lacrosse team returns to the road after five straight home games with a 3 p.m. contest on Friday, April 30th at No. 19 Rutgers.
Louisville and Rutgers have met twice before, with each team winning at their home field. U of L won last season 10-8 at the University of Louisville Lacrosse Field. Emily Dashiell paced the Cards with four goals to go along with her two assists and four ground balls. Ashley King and Jen Heup also recorded four ground balls. Heup added ten saves, including seven in the second half to preserve the victory.
In their last game, the Cardinals (9-6, 2-4) fell short to nationally ranked Syracuse 16-11 on senior day. Dashiell paced U of L with five goals while Bergan Foley scored four while being face guarded the entire time. Dashiell recorded six draw controls for the third time on the season. King, playing in her last home game, picked up five ground balls while causing four turnovers. Goalie Danielle Pawliw finished the afternoon with ten spectacular saves.
Rutgers (10-4, 3-3) enters the week ranked 19th in the IWLCA Poll and 20th in the Inside Lacrosse Poll. On Sunday, Rutgers senior attacker Brooke Cantwell scored her team-leading eighth hat trick of the season, and tallied the game-winning goal as the Scarlet Knights knocked off nationally ranked Notre Dame in overtime at Yurcak Field.
