
Women's Lacrosse Continues to Improve on NCAA Statistical Rankings

For the sixth straight week, University of Louisville lacrosse attacker Bergan Foley leads the nation in goals per game with an average of 4.53 per game, up from her average of 4.46 from last week. After a six goal performance in a 15-8 U of L victory over Connecticut on Friday, and a four goal performance against nationally ranked Syracuse on Sunday, Foley currently is in solo possession of first place in total goals with 68, four ahead of Erin Rawlick from the Navy.
Foley has scored in 43 of her 44 career games and set a new single-season record for goals when she found the back of the net for the 62nd time of the season with 25:58 remaining in the game against the Huskies on Friday. She has scored at least six goals five times on the season, including three games with seven goals.
Sophomore midfielder Katie Oliverio remains in third place in assists per game and climbed from fifth to third nationally in total assists. Currently, Oliverio has dished out 38 assists in 15 games for a 2.53 average. She has closed the gap between her and national leader Katie Latonick from Quinnipiac in both categories, currently trailing her by six assists and 0.10 assists per game. This season, Oliverio has set school records for most assists in a single game, most assists in a season and most career assists.
Emily Dashiell has moved from ninth in the nation in draw controls to seventh. Dashiell recorded 11 draw controls last week, including six against nationally ranked Syracuse, the third time she has recorded six draw controls in a game this season. She is currently averaging 3.93 draw controls per contest. Dashiell moved from 19th to 18th in caused turnovers and is currently averaging 1.93 caused turnovers per game.
The Cardinals remained second nationally as a team in draw controls, upping their average by 0.02 draw controls per game and are now averaging 15.87 per contest. After averaging 13 goals per game last week, the Cardinals climbed from ninth nationally to seventh in scoring average, currently averaging 14.47 goals per game.
Last season, Louisville finished in the top five nationally in both caused turnovers and ground balls. The Cardinals are closing in on those marks for the second consecutive season, as the currently are sixth nationally in caused turnovers with an average of 11.2 and ninth in ground balls with 21.53. The Cardinals recorded 23 ground balls and caused 13 turnovers against nationally ranked Syracuse to go along with their 20 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers against Connecticut in their other contest last week.
Louisville (9-6) travels to No. 19 Rutgers on Friday for a 3 p.m. contest.
