
Lacrosse to Play Final Home Game of Season on Sunday

The University of Louisville women's lacrosse team hosts their final home game with a 1 p.m. contest on Sunday against No. 11 Syracuse at the University of Louisville Lacrosse Stadium. Admission is free.
The Cardinals will honor their four seniors; Danielle Hale, Ashley King, Colleen Nevin and Lyndsay Ward; who will be playing in their final home game at the University of Louisville Lacrosse Stadium.
Hale, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, has scored nine career goals for U of L, with three in each of her three seasons. She had a multi-goal game this season against Jacksonville, connecting on a free position attempt to go along with an addition goal as time expired.
King, a native of Shoreham, N.Y., has started in all 14 games this season and is tied for the team lead with 37 ground balls and is third with 19 caused turnovers. Last season, she was a two-time member of the weekly BIG EAST Honor Roll.
Nevin, a native of Hampstead, Md., has started in 13 games on the season and has 14 ground balls on the season. She recorded a season-high four ground balls against Manhattan during a 19-6 U of L victory.
Ward, a native of Wykoff, N.J., recorded a multi-goal game against Sacred Heart in the season opener. She added a short-handed goal against Manhattan during a 19-6 U of L triumph. Ward had a season-high three ground balls against Binghamton.
Louisville and Syracuse have met once before, with Syracuse taking the decision last season in New York. Bergan Foley tallied two goals in the game for the Cardinals. Tara Restly, Jamie Ward, Emily Dashiell, Lianne Bobal and Abigail Wah picked up two ground balls apiece.
In their last game, the Cardinals (9-5, 2-3) used an 11 goal second-half outburst to take control against Connecticut and go on to win 15-8. The Cardinals other win against Connecticut came back in 2008, also by the score of 15-8. Foley broke her single-season record of 61 goals, when she found the back of the net for the 62nd time this season with 25:58 remaining in the -game. Danielle Pawliw came up big with seven saves in the second half.
Syracuse (11-4, 5-1) defeated Cincinnati 19-3 on Friday afternoon in Ohio. Twelve different players scored for the Orange, led by senior Christina Dove's four goals. Syracuse comes into Louisville having won four straight.
