
Cardinals' Wunderlich Named BIG EAST Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Junior infielder Phil Wunderlich was named BIG EAST Player of the Week on Monday after leading the No. 8 Louisville baseball team to another 4-0 week.
In the Cardinals' mid-week win over Evansville and weekend series sweep of Le Moyne, the Chicago native hit .563 (9-for-16) with two home runs, four extra base hits, five RBI, seven runs scored, a slugging percentage of 1.125 and an on-base percentage of .611. He was also 3-for-3 on stolen bases while splitting time defensively between third base and first base for Louisville, which is now ranked in the top 10 in five of six major national polls.
Overall, Wunderlich is hitting .356 on the season while leading the 11-0 Cardinals with four home runs and ranking second on the squad with 13 RBI. His team-leading .756 slugging percentage ranks second in the BIG EAST.
The Cardinals will conclude a five-game homestand at Jim Patterson Stadium on Tuesday at 3 p.m. ET against Indiana.
