NORMAN, Okla. - - The No. 14/17 University of Louisville softball team fell to host No. 8/11 Oklahoma 7-0 Sunday afternoon. The Cardinals (14-5) will travel to Kentucky on March 10.
The Sooners took a 1-0 lead on Haley Nix's one-out home run in the bottom of the third.
A bases-loaded walk and Lindsey Vandever's three-run double gave OU a 5-0 lead in the fifth. Katie Norris led off with a single. Dani Dobbs' reached on a Cardinal error, but was out at second when Wendy Trott's fielder's choice placed runners on the corners with two outs. Amanda Flores walked to load the bases for Shults, who drew a walk to score pinch runner Haley Anderson. Vandever's double cleared the bases.
Dobbs' two-run homer in the sixth made it a 7-0 game. Karolyne Long started the inning with a single to set up the score.
Starter Tori Collins (5-2) took the loss, allowing seven runs, three earned, on seven hits and striking out five in six innings. Collins and Bemis accounted for the Cards' two hits in the game.
Michelle Gascoigne (2-0) went the distance to get the shutout win, scattering two hits and fanning six. Oklahoma improves to 15-3 on the season.
