The University of Louisville men's swimming team has qualified four student-athletes for the 2010 NCAA Championships. The meet is scheduled for March 25-27 at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
Carlos Almeida, Kris Findorff, Carlos Van Isschot and Pedro Oliveira have each been selected to participate in the NCAA Championships.
"We are excited with this group of qualifiers," said U of L head coach Arthur Albiero, the 2010 BIG EAST Coach of the Year. "This group is the one with the most opportunity to score than ever before and we are approaching the meet with this clear focus in mind."
All four swimmers will compete in a total of nine individual events. Louisville will also swim in the 200- and 400-medley relay, the 200- and 400-free relay and the 800-free relay.
Carlos Almeida has the highest seeded qualification, putting up the fifth fastest time in the nation in the 200-breast (1:54.85). Louisville's highest finish in school history was a year ago, when the Cards finished 26h overall. The Cardinals finished the regular season with a national ranking of No. 16, highest in school history and their first-ever BIG EAST crown.
