
No. 16 Louisville Field Hockey Tops Missouri State 3-0

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - - The 16th-ranked University of Louisville field hockey team defeated host Missouri State 3-0 Saturday afternoon at Plaster Field. The Cards improve to 3-2, while the Bears drop to 2-4 on the season.
"I'm proud of our team for playing a very physical match on the road and for staying on task throughout the whole game," said U of L head coach Pam Bustin. "This will give us momentum going into tomorrow's match at Saint Louis."
In the first half, Louisville outshot Missouri State 12-0 and held a 12-1 advantage in penalty corners and took a 1-0 lead into halftime after senior Kayla May connected on a rebound with less than four minutes left in the half for her first goal of the season.
The Cards continued to apply offensive pressure in the second half as junior Tuli Lim notched her first score of the season when she delivered an unassisted goal at the 46:24 mark in the game.
With five minutes left in the game, junior Nikki Auker completed the scoring with an assist from sophomore Hayley Turner. Auker now moves into a five-way tie for first on the team with two goals on the season, while Turner leads the Cards with four assists.
In the game, Louisville outshot Missouri State 24-1 and held a 17-2 advantage in corners.
U of L goalkeeper Heather Bustanoby (3-2) posted one save en route to her second shutout of the season. Missouri State's Steph Anderson (2-4) registered 15 saves in the game.
The Cardinals (3-2) will travel to Saint Louis for a 1 p.m. (Eastern) matchup on Sunday.
