
Field Hockey Earns BIG EAST Conference Academic Excellence Award

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - - The University of Louisville field hockey team earned the BIG EAST Conference 2008-09 Team Academic Excellence Award. The league announced the 23 teams that have been recognizing the highest collective grade-point averages in each conference sport.
Louisville's field hockey team, which won its third straight regular season title, produced a league-best 3.275 team GPA. The Cardinals posted a 14-7 overall record, including a 5-1 mark in conference play. U of L spent the entire season in the NFHCA top 20, reaching as high as No. 11 and earning their second trip to the NCAA tournament.
The winners were chosen based on the 2008-09 grade-point average of each student-athlete who appears on an institution's squad list in a particular sport.
