The University of Louisville lacrosse team hosts its home opener when it faces Villanova Friday at 6:30 at the U of L Lacrosse Stadium.
"We are looking for a big crowd, and the girls are very excited about playing on our home field," said head coach Kellie Young. "We play our best lacrosse here so we are excited to get underway."
The first 50 fans will receive a "Chillin' With the Cards" drink huggie.
The Cardinals, 2-0, are led by Lianne Bobal, who has six goals and two assists. Liz Lovejoy adds six goals as well. Goalie Jen Heup posts a 4.95 goals against average to lead the Cardinal defense. Ashley King has seven caused turnovers and Sammy Allen leads with 11 draw controls.
The Villanova Wildcats (1-1 overall) are coming off a 15-10 loss to Iona last weekend. The Wildcats built an early 4-1 lead in their first road battle of the season but saw Iona rally for the win. Villanova will become a full-fledged BIG EAST member next year.
