
Lacrosse to Face Virginia Tech

The University of Louisville lacrosse team continues its homestand Saturday when it faces Virginia Tech at 1 p.m. Saturday, at the U of L Lacrosse Stadium.
The Cardinals, 5-1 are coming off an 18-3 win over Lafayette and suffered their only loss to then-19 ranked Ohio State last Saturday. In the win over Lafayette, 10 different Cardinals were able to get on the scoreboard while a stingy defense allowed just three Leopard goals. The Cardinals are led by attacker Bergan Foley, who has scored 21 goals and tallied two assists.
No. 5 Duke ended Virginia Tech's four-game win streak on Wednesday, March 18, handing the Hokies a 21-3 loss ... Tech is now 4-5 overall and 1-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Prior to the Duke contest, the Hokies defeated Boston College, 16-14, in overtime on Saturday, March 14
Saturday's match will be the second all-time meeting between the Hokies and Louisville ... The two teams met for the first time a season ago on March 21, in Blacksburg.The Cardinals won the inaugural match 10-9. Rachel Culp led the Hokies with two goals last year. Caitlin Wier also tallied a goal and Tech's lone assist in the match. Kari Morrison started in goal and made 15 saves.
The setback against Duke was a tough one for the Hokies as Tech allowed an opponent to score 20 goals or more for the first time since No. 2 Maryland defeated Virginia Tech 21-17 on April 22, 2007 ... The 18-goal margin of defeat was the largest for Tech since dropping a 20-1 decision to No. 7 North Carolina on March 27, 2001.
