
Men's Tennis Plays Host to Eastern Kentucky and Belmont

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - After a week off, the University of Louisville men's tennis team is back in action with a doubleheader against Eastern Kentucky at noon and Belmont at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
Louisville has posted a 7-1 record so far the season with its only loss coming at the hands of No. 8 Tennessee on Feb. 1.
Freshman Andrew Carter and sophomore Viktor Maksimcuk each have a team-leading 17 wins with Maksimcuk holding a 7-1 record playing mostly at No. 2 singles. Freshman Robert Hall (15-5) is also 7-1 with most of his wins coming at the No. 5. Austen Childs and Simon Childs have registered a team-best 17-5 overall record and are 4-2 at the No. 1 seed.
U of L is No. 39 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Team Rankings with two players among the top 100 singles rankings. Sophomores Austen Childs is No. 47 and Simon Childs is No. 65. The doubles team of senior Robert Rotaru and sophomore Alejandro Calligari is No. 44 in the ITA rankings. The have compiled a 16-4 overall record and recently defeated Tennessee's 21st ranked team of Boris Conkic and Matteo Fago.
Following Tuesday's twinbill, the Cards will go on the road to face Vanderbilt on Feb. 22.
