Men's Tennis Concludes Play at South Carolina Fall Invitational

COLUMBIA, S.C. - - The University of Louisville men's tennis team wrapped up a successful weekend with 15 singles wins and six doubles victories at the South Carolina Fall Invitational which included Auburn, North Carolina and South Carolina.
"We finished the tournament strongly with three doubles wins and Calligari, Maksimcuk, Carter and Hall winning in straight sets," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "These four players have been playing better after each tournament, so I am not surpised that they dominated their positions."
Junior Alejandra Calligari went 3-0 on the weekend to win Flight 3 singles, posting wins over Auburn, North Carolina and South Carolina. Sophomore Andrew Carter won Flight 4, with wins over all three schools in the tournament. Sophomore Robert Hall was also a perfect 3-0 on the weekend and finished second in Flight 6.
Junior 12th-ranked Austen Childs posted a 2-1 mark with wins over players from South Carolina and North Carolina and finished second in Flight 2. Junior Viktor Maksimcuk also went 2-1 and placed second in Flight 3 singles with wins over players from South Carolina and Auburn. Sumit-Prakash Gupta picked up a win against South Carolina in Flight 7. . In doubles action, the duo of Maksimcuk and Carter won Flight 2 with victories over Auburn and South Carolina. Hall and Calligari also teamed to beat Auburn and South Carolina to take the Flight 3 title.
