
Field Hockey Will Wrap Up Regular Season This Weekend

The 15th ranked University of Louisville field hockey team will wrap up the regular season on this weekend when the Cards travel to play BIG EAST foe Georgetown Saturday and then will play No. 12 Stanford in a neutral site game at the University of Maryland on Sunday.
The Cardinals (10-7) are led offensively by junior Nicole Youman who has 33 points (10G 13A). Sophomore Hayley Turner follows closely with 32 points (11G, 10A). Senior goalkeeper Heather Bustanoby (10-7) carries a 1.60 goals against average.
U of L is coming off of last Sunday's 2-0 win over host Iowa. Youman and junior Karah Nall provided the scoring in that game.
Following Sunday's game, the Cards will head to the BIG EAST Conference tournament hosted by Providence College Nov. 7-8. U of L has already secured the No. 3 seed and will face second-seeded and seventh-ranked Connecticut in the 1:30 semifinal on Saturday, Nov. 7. Top-seeded (fifth-ranked) Syracuse will face host Providence in other semifinal game at 11 a.m.

Scouting the Hoyas: Georgetown brings a 1-17 overall record and a 1-4 BIG EAST mark into its final weekend of play. The Hoyas are led offensively by Kristen Volpe's 24 points (9G, 6A).

Scouting the Cardinal: Stanford carries a 13-2 overall record into the final match of the season. The Cardinal rattled off 11 straight wins to start the season before dropping games to Penn State and California. Midori Uehara leads the attack with 24 points (11G, 2A). Becky Dru (9G, 5A) and Jaimee Erickson (6G, 11A) follow with 23 points each. Goalkeeper Alessandra Moss (13-2) holds a 1.27 goals against average with four shutouts.

All but one of Louisville's seven losses have been at the hands of teams in the top 20, including: No. 6 Wake Forest, No. 8 Michigan State, No. 7 Connecticut, No. 6 Syracuse and No. 15 Duke and No. 19 Ohio State
The Cards have only been shutout once this season, in their first game, a 3-0 setback to then-10th ranked Duke
Eleven players have contributed to Louisville's 59 goals on the season with all of them having more than one goal on the season.

Youman, Bustanoby Named to BIG EAST Honor Roll
Junior Nicole Youman and senior Heather Bustanoby were named to the BIG EAST honor roll on Oct. 26.
Youman scored three goals and dished out one assist to lead the Cardinals to a 2-0 showing on the week. Youman scored two goals in the 6-0 win over Pacific and had a goal and an assist in the 2-0 win over Iowa. She leads the team with 33 points (10G, 13A). Her 13 assists tie her for second on the school's single season list and she needs one more to tie Jessica Javelet's school record of 14 set in the 2005 season.
Bustanoby did not allow goal and posted six saves to help the Cardinals to a 2-0 record on the week. Bustanoby (10-7) worked a scoreless first half in the 6-0 win over Pacific while sharing the shutout with freshman Erin Conrad. She then collected six saves in Louisville's 2-0 win at Iowa on Sunday. She carries a 1.60 goals-against average.
Close Calls
Of the Cardinals' seven losses, six have come by a margin of one goal and three have been the result of overtime games. The only time U of L has been beaten by more than one goal was in the first game of the season when Duke came away with a 3-0 win. Overtime losses have come against No. 6 Connecticut, No. 8 Michigan State and No. 19 Ohio State.
Spreading the Offense
The Cardinals have outscored opponents 59-26, but have managed a balanced offensive attack with eleven players accounting for the scoring output. All eleven players have recorded multiple goals on the season.
Youman Moving On Up
Junior midfielder Nicole Youman is now third on the school's career assists list with 32. She needs three more to move to second. Jessica Javelet holds the record for career assists with 38.
Youman is also fourth on the career points list with 84 and needs seven more to move to third. Javelet holds the all-time mark with 176 points.
