
Field Hockey Edges New Hampshire 4-3 in OT

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - - Nicole Youman notched a pair of goals and Tuli Lim scored the gamewinner as the 11th-ranked University of Louisville field hockey team edged New Hampshire 4-3 in overtime Saturday at Syracuse's J.S. Coyne Field.
The teams played through most of the first half with Louisville on its offensive end and the Cardinals outshooting the Wildcats 10-2 in the first 30 minutes before New Hampshire broke through on Hayley Rausch's goal to take a 1-0 lead at the 30:33 mark.
The Cards answered two minutes later when sophomore Nicole Youman capitalized on a penalty corner with an assist from freshman Hayley Turner.
The teams entered the break tied at 1-1 with U of L outshooting New Hampshire 13-3 and holding a 4-0 advantage in penalty corners.
Louisville jumped to a 2-1 lead early in the second half when Turner registered her first career goal off of a rebound from UNH goalkeeper Jenna Lehman's pads at the 36:08 mark.
U of L kept the lead until the 64:23 mark when Meg Shea tied the game at 2-2.
A minute later, Youman tallied her second goal of the game with another assist from Turner to help the Cards regain the lead at 3-2.
Rausch responded with her second score of the game as the Wildcats converted on a penalty corner as time expired to send the game into overtime.
In the second half, the Cards held a 9-6 edge in shots and the teams had three corners each.
Just 28 seconds into the overtime period, Lim connected on a feed from Nikki Auker to give Louisville the 4-3 win.
Louisville outshot New Hampshire 23-9 and outcornered them 9-3 in the game. Junior Heather Bustanoby posted three stops in the cage for the Cardinals. New Hampshire's Lehman collected 10 saves as the Wildcats drop to 4-3 on the season.
U of L (4-3, 0-1 BIG EAST) will return to BIG EAST Conference play when fourth-ranked Connecticut (7-0, 1-0) visits Trager Stadium on Sept. 27 at 1 p.m.
