The Athletic department has been working with the University Parking office to help Cardinal fans' game day experience be as smooth as possible. Last year, fans let reported that there was a little difficulty in exiting the garage pay lot after athletic events. This year, U of L is trying something new for several of its athletic events on campus.
This year, when fans arrive for an on-campus event, a parking officer will collect the parking fee before fans enter the garage. This will prevent traffic back-ups when leaving the parking garage. Please plan to access the garage via the Floyd Street entrance directly across from Cardinal Park (rather than the SAC pay-lot located within the oval). Upon entering the garage, Cardinal fans will pay the parking fee to the attendant and proceed to park. Upon leaving, the gate will raise automatically which will make for the delay fans have experienced in the past!
The athletic department is also contemplating another alternative. Some patrons/fans prefer to park in the Human Resources Parking lot that is located across from Ulmer Softball Stadium on the corner of Arthur St. and Cardinal Boulevard. This parking lot requires a blue UL Staff parking permit, Monday through Friday, 7:30am until 7:30pm. After 7:30pm through the week and on the weekend, you may park in this parking lot free of charge. However, if there is sufficient demand, the ticket office would like to offer fans the opportunity to purchase a permit that would allow them to park in this convenient lot during select athletic events even on a weekday. This permit would be valid for one hour prior to a Women's Soccer, Men's Soccer or Volleyball game and remain valid until the end of the game, regardless of the start time. The permit cost would be $35 and valid through the entire Soccer and Volleyball season(s) and paid in one lump sum)
This option is being offered because some people would prefer to park in this surface parking lot. Interested fans should Kerry Bennett Johnson at kerry@louisville.edu.
