LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville lacrosse team will look for its 10th win of the season as the Cards host Davidson on Sunday at noon ET at the UofL Lacrosse Stadium. Admission is free.
The Cards enter the game at 9-4 overall following last Monday's 20-13 home win over UC Davis, the fourth in a six-game home stand for Louisville. First-year attacker Liz Lovejoy led the Cards with a career-high five goals, while Sierra Smith-Hart finished with four goals in the win.
The Wildcats enter the game at 10-4 overall following a 15-5 loss at Ohio State on April 30. Prior to that, Davidson had won six straight overall, including an 11-5 win over Cincinnati on April 11.
Throughout their inaugural season, the Cards have been led in scoring by first-year attacker Bergan Foley, who entered the week as the nation's top goal scorer at 4.42 goals per game. A native of Huntingdon Valley, Pa., Foley has led the Cards in goals in 12 of 13 games, with the lone exception being last Sunday's win over UC Davis as constant face-guarding and double-teaming kept Foley to a season-low two goals, dropping her season average to 4.23. Foley also ranks 10th in the nation in points at 4.75 per game.
Also ranking in the nation's top 10 this week is first-year midfielder Brittany Poist, who is second nationally in caused turnovers at 2.92 per game and 10th in the nation in ground balls at 3.25 per contest, and first-year midfielder Emily Dashiell, who is sixth in the nation in draw controls at 3.58 per game.
As a team, the Cards are seventh in the nation in scoring offense at 14.49 goals per game, seventh in draw controls at 14.83 per game and 10th nationally in scoring margin at +4.75.
Following Sunday's game, the Cards will complete their 2008 home schedule on Tuesday, April 29 against Cincinnati at 7 p.m. ET. Admission is free for all Louisville lacrosse games and all games are played at the UofL Lacrosse Stadium, located on S. Floyd St., next door to the Yum! Center.
