
Men's Tennis to Host Xavier and Eastern Kentucky Wednesday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - The University of Louisville men's tennis team will play host to Xavier and Eastern Kentucky in a doubleheader on Wednesday, March 26 at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The match times have been moved up an hour from their previously scheduled starts. The Cards will face Xavier at noon and EKU at 4:30 (Eastern).
The Cardinals (13-4) are coming off of a 5-2 loss to No. 19 Texas A&M on March 20. Louisville won the doubles point and freshman Alejandro Calligari posted the Cards only singles point.
Freshman Austen Chids is currently No. 41 in the ITA singles rankings. The freshman from Mt. Maunganui, New Zealand has compiled a 20-9 overall record and is 10-4 at Louisville's top seeded player. Calligari (Bradenton, Fla.) leads the team with a 21-5 overall record and is 10-2 in dual matches, playing at mostly Nos. 5 and 6.
Austen Childs and fellow freshman Simon Childs (Hillington, England) stand in at No. 33 in the ITA doubles rankings. Childs and Childs have a 10-4 record as the Cards' No. 1 doubles team. U of L is currently No. 38 in the latest ITA team rankings (March 18) and has an 11-1 record at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
"We'll be prepared to play two solid teams back-to-back," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "We have been working on our fitness as well as giving players some needed rest after traveling on the road. We'll be fielding a strong lineup and hopefully we'll continue our solid play at home."
