LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The nationally ranked University of Louisville rowing program will open the 2008 spring racing season Saturday with five races against Indiana on Lake Lemon in Bloomington.
The Cards and Hoosiers will open the racing at 9 a.m. ET with a Varsity 8+ race, followed by a 2nd Varsity 8+ race at 9:15 a.m. The third race of the morning will be a Varsity 4+ race at 9:30 a.m., while Novice 8+ (9:45 a.m.) and Novice 4+ (10 a.m.) races will close the day.
"We are looking forward to getting our spring season started and lining up for our first official 2000-meter race of the season," said Cards' head coach Laura Fogt. "The women have put in many hours of hard training and I am excited for them to see the fruits of their labor."
Last week, the Cards spent spring break training in Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Louisville won eight exhibition races against Duke during the week.
"Though the river conditions have been less than ideal, the women have pushed forward and made the best of the situation," Fogt said. "Their positive attitude is what continues to move them forward and we all look forward to a great weekend of racing."
Following this weekend's racing at IU, the Cards will face Tennessee on Saturday, March 29 in Knoxville, Tenn.
