LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville freshmen rowers Kristin Falovo and Sam Kayser were selected to participate in the ROWONTARIO Identification/Training Camp at Shawnigan Lake, B.C., on Feb. 20-24.
The event, which includes seven rowers and two coxswains, is designed to identify athletes for the 2009 Canada Games, held every four years for athletes under the age of 21 as a development step for many of Canada's High Performance athletes.
"Kristin and Sam have both done a fantastic job in their first year of rowing in Louisville," said Cards' head coach Laura Fogt. "They have seen great improvement in their fitness and overall speed in the last few months, and this is a direct result of their dedication and commitment to the goals of the program. It's great to have two freshmen representing the University of Louisville with the hopes of being selected for the boat that will compete in the 2009 Canada Games."
Falovo is a native of Thorold, Ont., and a graduate of Denis Morris Catholic High School, while Kayser is a native of Ottawa, Ont., and a graduate of Canterbury High School.
The nationally ranked Louisville rowing program will return to action next month with an exhibition race against Duke on March 10 in Oak Ridge, Tenn., while their regular season racing schedule resumes on March 22 at Indiana.
