Men's Swimming Falls to Tennessee

The University of Louisville men's swimming and diving team won five events, including a three-place sweep of the 200-fly before falling to host Tennessee 185-113 in the first dual meet of the season Thursday evening in Knoxville.
The men fought hard against Tennessee and we had some very inspired swims," said Louisville head coach Arthur Albiero. "This will be a good meet to build on for us."
The men were edged in the first race in the 200-medley relay, with the Cardinal foursome of Carlos Van Isschot, Vali Preda, Tim Collins and Andrei Radzionau posting a time of 1:32.14.
The Cardinals notched their first victory when Shane Lichtenberg tallied a time of 9:22.54 in the 1000-free. Riley Martin posted a lifetime best with a time of 9:54.00.
In the 200-free, Andrei Radzionau was second with a time of 1:41.01 and Brendon Andrews put up a lifetime best of 1:42.18 for fifth.
In the 100-back, Carlos Van Isschot touched first in a solid swim of 49.57.
In the 100-breast, Vali Preda was second with a time of 57.09.
The Cardinals posted the maximum points in the 200-fly with a sweep of the top three places led by Pedro Oliviero, who posted a time of 1:49.90. Rafal Kuchta was second in 1:51.23 and Doug Dietrich was third in 1:51.32.
In the 50-free, Brendon Andrews scored with a fourth place and a time of 21.21.
Diver David Zamkov finished fourth with a score of 261.98 in the 1-meter board.
Brendon Andrews turned in a second place with a solid swim of 45.93.
Pedro Oliviero notched his second win with a first in the 200-back, going 1:50.34.
In the 200-breast, Vali Preda finished fifth, turning in a time of 2:09.82.
Shane Lichtenberg scored more points for the Cards with a second in the 500-free with a time of 4:36.97. Doug Dietrich was third with a time of 4:41.93.
Freshman Pedro Oliviero was second in the 100-fly and Luke Wakefield was the top finisher in the 200-IM for the Cardinals with a fifth in a time of 1:56.73.
In the 3-meter board, David Zamkov placed fourth with a score of 282.30.
The quartet of Brendon Andrews, Carlos Van Isschot, Pedro Oliviero and Chase Grimes had the fasted time in the 400-free relay with a time of 3:07.10.
