
Austen Childs Advances to Southern Intercollegiate Quarterfinals

ATHENS, Ga. - Freshman Austen Childs advanced to the Division I singles quarterfinals in the Southern Intercollegiate Championships Saturday. He will face Wake Forest's Cory Parr Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
Childs defeated the tournament's No. 10 seed Jamie Hunt of Georgia 6-4, 6-3 in the round of 32 and Tennessee's John-Patrick Smith 6-4, 6-2 to set up Sunday's quarterfinal match.
In other singles action, Louisville freshman Alejandro Calligari defeated Virginia Tech's Pedro Graber 6-3, 6-0, but fell to Florida's Dan Cash 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 in the round of 16.
Also in Division II singles, Cardinal sophomore James McArthur dropped a 6-4, 6-4 decision to Georgia Tech's Ryan Smith.
U of L sophomore Pablo Camacho fell 6-1, 6-2 to Virginia Tech's Sebastian Jacques and sophomore Morten Sivertsen went three sets, but lost to USF's Jamal Adderley 5-7, 6-2, 6-0 in Division III singles.
