If you are athletic and would like to try a new sport at a Division I program, then rowing could be the sport for you. The Cardinal rowing program will host three informational meetings in late August to talk about tryouts, and U of L coaches and athletes will be on campus recruiting during the first week and half of school. They will be located at the bottom of the ramp outside of the Swain Student Activities Center (SAC).
Andrea Buch will be the Cards' novice coach for 2007-08 and she can be contacted at (502) 852-8121 or at abuch24@yahoo.com.
Three informational meetings will be held to talk about tryouts and anyone interested in trying out for team is asked to attend only one of the meetings scheduled for the following:
- Tuesday, Aug. 28 - Floyd Theater (SAC) - 1-2 p.m.
- Wednesday, Aug. 29 - Floyd Theatre (SAC) - 1-2 p.m.
- Wednesday, Aug. 29 - Floyd Theatre (SAC) - 5-7 p.m. (Largest and most informative, so if possible, this would be the best meeting to attend)
It is important that you attend one of the information meetings, and if you are not able to attend, please be sure to contact Andrea Buch.
Tryouts will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at the indoor rowing facilities located at the Kentucky Fair & Exposition Center (KFEC).
Directions to the KFEC from campus: Head towards Papa John's Football stadium on Floyd Street. Turn left at light on to Central Avenue. Go straight through the stop light at Crittenden Drive; you are now entering KFEC from Gate 4. Go through main gates; at stop sign turn right and take your first immediate left into parking lot. You will need to "U" back towards the brick athletics building. Enter through front glass doors and follow signs to rowing room.
FOR YOU TO TRYOUT, YOU MUST HAVE A COMPLETED PHYSICAL BY YOUR DOCTOR AND A PHOTOCOPY (front and back) OF YOUR INSURANCE CARD. You will need to have a doctor complete the physical form, which you can download here.
