
Swimmer Anna Dishuck Makes Olympic Qualifying Time in 200-Breast

University of Louisville swimmer and sophomore-to-be Anna Dishuck made Olympic Qualifying times with her swim in the 200-meter breaststroke at the ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships. The native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama swam a 2:35.04 to finish 32nd overall.
"I was thrilled for Anna in her first race to improve by two seconds and make the Olympic Trial cuts," said Arthur Albiero, U of L head coach. "I am so proud to see the sacrifice she made by staying at U of L this summer and training pay off for her. She gets to go to Omaha next summer for the Trials."
Three University of Louisville swimming athletes, volunteer coach and Olympic medallist, Rachel Komisarz, along with incoming freshman Shane Lichtenberg are scheduled to compete at the USA National Championships. More than 1,000 swimmers, will be in Indianapolis for the 2007 USA Swimming National Championships July 31-Aug. 4, 2007. The competition will be held at the historic Indiana University Natatorium home of four Olympic Trials for swimming.
The U of L women's team will be represented as 2006 Louisville freshman of the year, Anna Dishuck, junior Leslie VanWinkle and junior Whitney Campbell, will compete in various events throughout the weekend. Dishuck, a native of Tuscaloosa, AL will open the week for the Cards in the 200-meter breaststroke on Tuesday, followed by the 50-meter freestyle, 100-meter breaststroke and 200-meter Individual Medley. VanWinkle, who is originally from Evansville, IN will start her competition on Wednesday in the 400-meter Individual Medley and will continue through Saturday with the 100-meter freestyle, 200-meter Individual Medley, and 200-meter freestyle . Campbell, who is coming off a red-shirt year, will be meeting the team and competing in the 50- and 100-meter freestyle events. The Cardinal men's team will be represented by incoming freshman, Shane Litchenberg, from Clarkston, MI. Litchenberg, who was selected to NCSA junior team earlier this summer, will be swimming with his specialty events in the 1500-meter freestyle, 800- and 400-meter freestyles through Saturday.
"We're excited to have these athletes competing at such a prestigious event," said Cards' head coach Arthur Albiero. "These women will compete against some of our nation's top professional swimmers and Shane will be matched against some of the top distance swimmers in the US, so it should be a wonderful competitive experience for all of the athletes."
