
Men's Golf Advances to NCAA Championships

Sugar Grove, Ill. - The University of Louisville's men's golf team added another chapter to its magical season by advancing to the NCAA Championships in two weeks after finishing third at the NCAA Central Regional in Sugar Grove, Ill.
The Cardinals will compete from May 30-June 2 in Williamsburg, Va. for a chance at a national championship.
Louisville, which led by 11 strokes after the first round, hung in there despite playing one of the nation's most difficult golf courses. The Cardinals posted their highest finish in NCAA regional competition by placing third while shooting a 35-over par 899, just three strokes behind regional winner Tulsa (895) and one shot behind second-place Alabama (898).
Sophomore Adam Hadwin posted the school's best finish at a regional by placing eighth overall by carding 74-72-76=222. Junior Daryl Fathauer was right behind him in a tie for ninth place at 71-70-82=223. His brother, Derek fired a 70-76-78=228 to tie for 14th.
Junior Adam Rainaud, who struggled in the first two rounds, shot one of the low rounds on the day, firing a 1-under par 71 to finish in a tie for 45th. He shot 79-80-71-230.
Tulsa, Alabama, Lamar, Tennessee, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Michigan State, Texas and Minnesota all advanced to the NCAA Championships from the Central Region.
