Louisville, Ky - The University of Louisville raced out of the gates in impressive fashion and are leading the 2007 BIG EAST Championships at the 7,036-yard par 72 Cardinal Club in Louisville, Ky.
The Cardinals (283) lead second-place St. John's by six strokes and third-place Marquette by seven strokes after first day of play.
Adam Rainaud, who has seen limited action, shot a five-under par 67 on the first day and is in second-place one stroke behind Mike Van Sickle of Marquette, who fired a 66.
Daryl Fathauer is tied for sixth overall after shooting a 1-under par 71 on the afternoon. Adam Hadwin is tied for 11th overall after carding an even-par 72. Derek Fathauer stands in a tied for 13th place after shooting a one-over par 73.
Lewis Kirton is tied for 28th when he shot a four-over par 76.
Second-round action begins on Monday at 8:00 a.m.
