LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -Roy Hibbert scored 20 points and grabbed 22 rebounds to lead No. 22 Georgetown to a 73-65 win over Louisville on Wednesday night.
Jeff Green scored 16 points and DaJuan Summers added 13 as the surging Hoyas (17-5, 7-2 Big East) won their sixth straight game, with each win coming by at least eight points.
Earl Clark matched a career-high with 14 points for Louisville (16-8, 6-4), but the Cardinals lost their 13th straight game to a ranked opponent despite which lost despite committing a school-record low one turnover.
Georgetown did it with defense, holding Louisville to 33 percent shooting from the floor and spoiling a night when the Cardinals honored former coach Denny Crum by naming the court at Freedom Hall in his honor.
Instead, it was Georgetown who turned back the clock, dominating the lane at both ends of the floor. The Hoyas outrebounded the Cardinals 35-30 and did whatever they wanted offensively.
Georgetown never trailed after the game's first few minutes and lead by as much as 13.
The Cardinals made several mini-runs in the second half to keep it close and pulled within 58-53 with less than four minutes to play. But Hibbert answered with a dunk and DaJuan Summers followed with a 3-pointer to seal it for the Hoyas.
Louisville, which has struggled shooting the ball all season, found little room to maneuver against the bigger, taller, stronger Hoyas. Louisville opened the game by missing 11 of its first 12 shots, and had to rely on 3-pointers just to keep it competitive.
The Cardinals managed to hit 11 3-pointers, but it hardly mattered. Hibbert had his way with whomever the Cardinals threw at him. Hibbert made 9-of-10 from the field on an array of dunks, lay-ups and even a jump shot.
Green was almost as hot, making 7-of-10 from the field and adding seven rebounds. He and Hibbert did whatever they wanted whenever they wanted to. The Hoyas outscored the Cardinals 30-14 in the paint, with Hibbert and Green extending possessions with timely offensive rebounds.
While the Cardinals were nearly perfect holding onto the ball, the Hoyas were almost as good. Georgetown turned it over just seven times - eight below their season average - and shot 56 percent from the field.
