
Volleyball Sweeps Seton Hall

Outside hitter Tatyana Kolesnikova had 14 kills and a block to lead U of L to a 30-25, 30-23, 30-20 sweep of Seton Hall in BIG EAST volleyball action Saturday afternoon in South Orange, New Jersey.
U of L improves to 12-4 and 7-0 in BIG EAST. SHU drops to 10-10 and 1-6 in the league.
U of L, the top blocking team in the country had 11 blocks to SHU's four and outhit the Pirates .339 to .138. Lecia Brown, the No. 1 blocker in the country, had seven with nine kills.
"We are learning how to play every day against every opponent no matter what their style," said Leonid Yelin, U of L head coach. "Getting a win on the road is another step in that direction."
U of L used a 6-1 run midway through the first game to go up 21-13 lead. The Pirates got as close as four at 26-22 but couldn't close in on the Cards. U of L fell 30-25. The Cardinals were led by Justine Landi's four kills as they outhit SHU .310 to .170. U of L was aced four times by SHU, with Megan Murison and Allie Matters each notching a pair.
U of L ran out to a 16-10 lead in the second game and the extended to as many as eight at 25-17. SHU fought back to within five at 27-22 before falling 30-23. Tatyana Kolesnikova had seven kills to lead the Cards. U of L hit .333 to SHU's .106.
U of L had to hold off SHU early in the third game when they mounted a comeback and pulled to within four at 22-18. However, the Pirates would score just twice more before falling 30-20 for the match.
