University of Louisville senior Slavko Radman is No. 29 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Preseason Singles Rankings while the team of Radman and senior Damar Johnson steps in at No. 26 in the doubles rankings.
"I think the ranking committee recognized how well Slavko Radman finished last season when he was named BIG EAST Singles Player of the Championship," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "His high ranking indicates that the committee selected him as one of the players who has chance of being an All-American. Damar Johnson and Slavko Radman could be an extremely formidable doubles team and I think the ranking committee realized that as well. Both will have a huge leadership role in this year's team which has six freshmen."
Radman, a senior from Split, Croatia, was 2006 All-BIG EAST Tournament selection in singles and was named Singles Most Outstanding Performer. He posted a 17-12 overall record in 2006 and was 13-9, playing mostly as the Cards' top seed. Radman also became the third player in U of L history to be selected to the NCAA Singles Championship.
Johnson, a senior from Steer Town, Jamaica was an All-BIG EAST doubles team selection in 2006. He posted a 22-8 overall record in doubles and was ranked as high as No. 27 with 2006 senior Jhonny Berrido.
The Cardinals will travel to Charlottesville, Va., Sept. 15-17 to compete in the Virginia Invitational.
