University of Louisville men's tennis signees have shone in competition this summer. Newcomer Chris Herrlinger won the Midwest USA 18 and Under Region Doubles Championship with Matt Allare in Indianapolis, Ind. and signee Kenneth Nordheim won Singles Championship of the Norwegian National Grand Prix in Guasdel, Norway.
"I always like signees to have a lot of confidence and momentum before they start their U of L Tennis careers, said BIG EAST Coach of the Year Rex Ecarma. "Chris and Kenneth are doing just that. This will help them to adjust to the high level we expect them to compete on a day to day basis. We start competing at the Southern USA Intercollegiates at the Univ. of Georgia the second weekend of September so these types of wins will help when they are playing some of the nation's best college players. With the other signees of David Simon, Morten Sivertsen, and Horatiu Oltean, this recruiting class will be talked about for some time to come."
U of L is coming off a championship year when the Cardinals won the BIG EAST crown and hosted the 2006 NCAA Men's Tennis Championship.
