The University of Louisville men's tennis team closed out a successful 2006 campaign ranked No. 26 in the final 2006 Intercollegiate Tennis Association's national team rankings.
"This was our highest finish in program history," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "We have spent time in the top 25 in the past two years and have established ourselves as a top-25 caliber team. We had two singles players and a doubles team nationally ranked - not many programs can say that."
For the first time in program history both a singles player, Slavko Radman, and a doubles team, Jakob Gustafsson and Jeremy Clark, were selected to compete at the NCAA Individual Tournament. Radman completes his junior season ranked No. 47 in the nation after achieving the highest ranking of his career at No. 39. The senior duo of Gustafsson and Clark close out their collegiate careers ranked No. 29 after being ranked as high as 19th in the nation.
The Cards finished this season with a 19-8 overall record, which includes an HEB Collegiate Team Championship, a BIG EAST Tournament Championship, and their third consecutive NCAA Team Tournament appearance where the team advanced to the regional finals. On March 14, Louisville achieved the program's highest national ranking at No. 12 and never fell out of the top 35.
