"We hit the ball hard at times, it just didn't fall for us," said U of L head coach Sandy Pearsall. "Michigan's Lorilyn Wilson was definitely on today and we could not get any offense going to back up Catherine Bishop."
The Wolverines jumped to a 2-0 lead in the second inning Becky Marx led off the frame with a walk and was lifted for pinch runner Allison Kidman who took second on Stephanie Bercaw's sacrifice bunt and scored on a hit by Grace Leutele. Rebekah Milian's single sent Leutele home to make it a 2-0 game.
After the second inning, Louisville starter Catherine Bishop retired the next 14 batters until Leutele blasted a two-out solo home run in the top of the seventh to increase Michigan's lead to 3-0.
