University of Louisville freshman swimmer, Vali Preda, finished 16th in the 100-breast Friday night at the 2006 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships hosted by Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Ga.
Preda, a three-time BIG EAST Champion, posted a time of 54.44 in the race. He will swim the 200-breaststroke in prelims on Saturday morning.
"We knew it would be a tough field," said U of L head coach Arthur Albiero. "The 100-breast is the race that he has shown tremendous improvement in this year. But this is arguably the fastest NCAA meet that we have seen in a while. It was big fun tonight. I don't have any predictions about the 200-breaststroke tomorrow."
